Today, we are introducing QoderWork Custom Desk.

Custom Desk extends AI beyond general-purpose conversation into purpose-built work environments. Each desk ships with its own interface, toolchain, and output specification, designed end-to-end around a single class of professional work. The first three modes are now available: Design Desk, Slides Desk, and Writing Desk.

What Problem Custom Desk Solves

The chatbox is the 1.0 form factor of AI products. It solved the input problem — natural language as the universal entry point — but left the output problem untouched.

The fundamental issue: professional work demands artifacts, workflows, and quality standards that a generic chat interface cannot support.

Design mockups, slide decks, and structured documents cannot be meaningfully edited or accumulated inside chat bubbles. Multi-stage workflows — review, revision, version control — cannot be expressed in a single conversational turn. Brand assets and institutional knowledge cannot persist across sessions. What users ultimately receive is text they must copy-paste elsewhere, not a deliverable they can ship.

Custom Desk exists to move AI from conversation partner to professional work environment.

How Custom Desk Works

Each desk is composed of three core elements:

  • Dedicated interface — A UI tailored to the task at hand: an infinite canvas, a document editor, or a multi-phase pipeline view.

  • Domain toolchain — Purpose-built sub-agents, renderers, review mechanisms, and export capabilities, designed for a specific output type.

  • Output specification — A defined format and quality bar: runnable React components, structured HTML pages, or annotatable documents.

All desks share a common agent layer and task system. Switching modes changes the work surface and delivery format, not the underlying capabilities.

Design Desk

Design Desk advances design delivery from static layers and vectors to runnable, editable, hand-off-ready code.

Describe what you need and receive a complete design artifact on an infinite canvas — a working React + Vite project, not a flat image. Three core mechanisms drive the workflow: Questions (structured clarification before execution), Design Plan (plan review before rendering begins), and Nudge (parametric refinement of existing designs). Together, they collapse the traditional cycle of mockup → annotation → discussion → implementation into a single workspace.

Over 100 style references are built in, with support for popular component libraries. When a design is ready, export directly or hand off to Qoder IDE for continued development. The design file is no longer an endpoint — it is a living engineering asset.

Slides Desk

Slides Desk transforms presentations from graphic files into programmable, auditable, accumulating structured assets. Each slide is persisted as a standalone HTML file — readable, diffable, hand-editable. Specialized agents handle research, visual design, rendering review, and narrative review independently, while users retain control at every level: outline, theme, imagery, and individual slides.

Over 30 built-in templates are available, and any finished deck can be extracted into a reusable team template. Export in PDF, HTML, or PPTX, with speaker notes generated automatically.

Writing Desk

Writing Desk upgrades AI writing from long chat replies into editable, annotatable, exportable document collaboration. The chat pane handles intent; a dedicated document pane holds the content. Highlight any passage, leave an annotation — "make this more formal," "cut to 100 words," "translate to English" — and the AI revises precisely where you pointed. Quick actions for polishing, rewriting, expanding, condensing, and translating are always one click away.

Every revision is versioned, and the finished document exports to PDF in one step. AI is no longer the ghostwriter — it is the collaborator whose drafts you review.
