App blocked by google

Hi Rob
I discovered by change the gtove and, as a DM, was the BEST tabletop app i ever used! Thanks for that in advance.

Having said that, i log during this days to start planning a cyberpunk AP and i found that when trying to log i get an error that Google blocked the app.

How could this be solved? If can be solved of course.

Hi! I'm sorry to hear that. Could you let me know the specific error message you're getting when you try to log in? I'm not having a problem logging in using an anonymous tab, so I can't reproduce the problem.

When I originally made the app, I went through an approval process for the oAuth login with Google and they signed off on it. However, early in 2024 they contacted me again saying I needed to re-submit, and they rejected it saying that gTove's usage of Google Drive was a "forbidden use-case". As an un-approved app, gTove now apparently has a global maximum of 100 simultaneous users, as well as asking people to re-approve its access to their Drive every time they log in.

It's possible that when you tried to sign in, the 100 user limit may have already been hit for the day (I don't know how Google tracks/manages that side of things), so it might be a transient problem (but pretty problematic if you can't guarantee that you and all your players will be able to sign in on games night).

I play pathfinder a LOT and this the best light and easy to use mapping tool i found, and was Great! Having said that, i got this screen (sorry is in spanish) [image: image.png] The app is blocked by google. It´s related to the autenthication way with pass and user for Drive i think because google change their policies in July. Saddly, in incognito mode the error is the same. Maybe try other browser? What changed in Google's policies in July? Google's oAuth policies haven't changed since 2021 according to this page: https://developers.google.com/identity/protocols/oauth2/policies

Searching for that error message turned up a number of discussions.

This post suggests that it can be due to the browser you're using, although from your list of things you've tried, it doesn't seem likely that you have outdated versions or untrusted plugins on all those different browsers and devices.

This article talks about ways that I might change my app to comply, but I believe I'm already doing all the relevant stuff.

However, I don't understand why it would be affecting some people, and not others. Surely if Google has blacklisted my app, it would affect everyone. I tried signing out from one of my accounts and signing in again, and it still worked.

Maybe the 100 user limit that Google mentioned when they retroactively rejected my app applies across all time, and not just 100 simultaneous users? I had assumed from your issue that you had previously signed in, and the app was working for you, but it has suddenly stopped working... but maybe I misunderstood? Have you ever actually managed to sign into gTove at any point?

Yes, it used to work perfect (I DM a complete Pathfinder adventure path with it :-) ) and some weeks ago when i tried to use the app again, i got this error. Hi Rob I hope you are doing great. Good news, i was able to make it work again. [image: image.png] I removed all the accesses that were previously granted and reload gtove to request again the permissions, and worked. The old and trustable turn off turn on :-).
