Command Line Control

You can control RDE from the command line since it uses DBus and you can do this through the rdectl command. The only actions that you can do are: kill and reconfigure. Kill will, obviously, kills the desktop environment and reconfigure reloads the settings. If the command isn't found, then you don't have the version(s) that has this shipped.
