fix(sections): show recipe names instead of raw section type keys - #2097
Conversation
A Home section saved without a typed title stored its section_type (for example "trending_on_server") as the title, and clients showed that key as the row heading. The resolver now replaces a blank title, or one equal to the section type, with the recipe's display name: the preset whose default params match the section config, else the recipe's first preset. Existing stored sections recover without a migration. The section editor now saves the same preset name when the title is left blank. 📝 WalkthroughWalkthroughServer section resolution now replaces blank or raw section-type titles with a recipe preset display name. It selects the preset with the most matching config keys, or the first preset if none match. Other supplied titles remain unchanged. ChangesSection title resolution

Match the web editor's matchRecipePreset: when several presets fit the
section config, the one matching the most keys names the section, so
{"format":"4k","sort":"recent"} resolves to "New in 4K".

🎯 Functional Correctness | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick winLimit the raw fallback to an unavailable catalog.
When the catalog is unavailable, a blank save uses
sectionTypeLabel(sectionType). Forrecently_released, that savesRecently Releasedinstead of the raw key, so the resolver preserves it and cannot restore the preset nameNew Releases. When the catalog is loaded but has no recipe for a selectable type, using
sectionTypewould regress its readable label. Apply the raw fallback only whenprops.recipeCatalogis unavailable.Suggested fix

Problem
Closes #2096
Related issue: Silo-Server/silo-apple#693
Validation tasks: none
When an admin saves a Home section without typing a title, the section editor stores the raw section type as the title, for example
trending_on_server. Every client that shows row headings then displays that key: iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, Android, and web rows for unfeatured sections. This change gives those sections the recipe's own name, such as "Trending This Week", both for sections already saved that way and for new saves.Approach
The old section editor fell back to
sectionTypeLabel, which only knows the 15 older section types, so every recipe type saved its raw key.mainhas since replaced that editor with the Home rows dialog, which already falls back to the recipe preset name (savedTitle()inweb/src/lib/homeRows/rowDraft.ts). After mergingmain, this PR changes only the server.Existing rows are repaired when sections are resolved. When a title is blank or equals its
section_type, the resolver uses the display name of the preset whose default params match the section config, or the recipe's first preset.Resolve,ResolveForSettings, and user-added sections all go through this, so Home, library, settings, and v2 profile-section responses recover without a migration. Real titles pass through unchanged. The admin section list still shows the stored value.ResolveForSettingsgivesdefault_titlethe same readable fallback astitle, using the same config. Without it, a row whose admin title is the raw key would get a readabletitlebut keep the raw key indefault_title. The web would then show it as "renamed from trending_on_server" and save the readable name as a title override.Silo-Server/silo-apple#694, a client-side fallback, was closed in favor of this PR.

This is a server-side code change. It changes only the
titlestring the sections API returns for sections saved without a typed title. The clients render that string, so the visible change belongs to them. Silo-Server/silo-apple#694 shows the same rows before and after on iPad and Apple TV: https://evidence.siloserver.org/r/silo-apple/pr-694/The resolver test covers the server behavior: a stored
trending_on_servertitle with{"window":"7d"}resolves to "Trending This Week",{"format":"4k","sort":"recent"}resolves to "New in 4K", and a typed title such as "Hot Right Now" stays unchanged.Risks
A section whose admin deliberately typed the exact type key as its title now shows the recipe name instead. Types without a recipe or presets keep their stored title.
