I became curious about design long before I knew what product design was. Growing up left-handed made me constantly notice how everyday experiences — from classroom chairs to simple tools — were often designed without certain users in mind. That curiosity eventually evolved into a passion for creating products that feel intuitive, accessible, and genuinely thoughtful.

Today, I design complex digital products with a focus on clarity, structure, and usability. I enjoy working through ambiguity, simplifying complex systems, and shaping experiences that feel intuitive without sacrificing depth.

I also build and ship my own products. Flyleaf, SDA Hymnal and VibeCafe are mine. I designed them, built them, and shipped them. They are live and people use them. I am always looking for a new challenge.

I write the HTML and CSS by hand. The framework code I build with AI agents. I direct that work. I do not type it.

The judgement is mine. What the product is for. What it must never do. Which features earn their complexity. Whether an offline app should trust the network. When a font licence makes a typeface unusable. An agent builds what I ask for. Deciding what to ask for is the work.

Two things get confused, so I separate them. I use AI in my workflow. I also design AI products. That second one is its own discipline. It means deciding how much control a person keeps, what the machine may do unattended, and how someone checks output they did not write. SOPHIA and AIDEN are the public examples.

I designed and shipped each of these. All are live.

Flyleaf — a private journal for your reading life. Local-first: no account, no server, nothing leaving your device. Book covers resolve from open catalogues with an original generated jacket when no real one exists. Installs as a PWA on Android and iOS, works fully offline.

SDA Hymnal — both hymnals in one app. 920 entries (695 hymns + 225 worship aids every other app leaves out), 691 recordings, and 278 Yorùbá hymns cross-referenced to their English counterparts so switching language keeps the song, and the number changes with it. Built for a phone in the pew, a laptop, and a projector at the front of the hall. Fully offline.

IQvote — internal voting platform in real use by the BrainDAO product team.

html-to-figma — Figma plugin that imports any webpage as editable Figma frames. Tooling for other designers.

VibeCafe — a lofi space where you compose your own atmosphere. Nine scenes, freely mixable ambient layers, playlist support across four services.

simplypheyie.is-a.dev — this portfolio. 5,000+ hand-written lines of CSS, a serverless Goodreads feed that is edge-cached and falls back to baked-in values so the card is never empty or wrong, and generative lofi synthesised in the Web Audio API so the site ships zero audio assets.
