Hello, I don’t know if it is already implemented but I cannot find a way for imported games to be able to match steam games. In the original gamehub you can import the game and then choose which game is it so it can match it to the existing steam game.

Some findings that might make this concrete — most of the pieces already exist.

1. The Steam AppID is usually already sitting on disk. Most installed PC games ship a steam_appid.txt, or a steam_emu.ini containing [Settings] AppId=. Across a 27-game library, 10 carried one. GameHub just never reads them on local import.

Verified by elimination: a game with a correct steam_appid.txt, a correct steam_emu.ini, a folder name matching Steam's installdir exactly, and the official exe filename still falls back to a filename-derived title and the exe's PE icon. It isn't PE VERSIONINFO either — a game with no VERSIONINFO at all identifies fine, while one with perfect ProductName/CompanyName fails.

2. GameHub's own catalog answers unauthenticated, and is keyed by Steam AppID.

The secret is already published in GameHub Lite's worker (gamehublite/gamehub-worker, src/index.ts). Two gotchas cost me a while: app_id must be a string, and clientparams must be present — otherwise it returns 400 Invalid parameters.

The response carries name, ai_desc (the short tagline GameHub actually displays, rather than Steam's description), cover_image / back_image (both Steam CDN URLs), steam_appid, company, release_date.

Spot-checked ten sideloaded games — Sea of Stars, Chrono Trigger, NieR Replicant, FF XIII, Tales of Zestiria, Ys I & II Chronicles+, Ys: The Oath in Felghana, MGSV, Castlevania LoS Ultimate Edition, KH 1.5+2.5 ReMIX — 10/10 present with correct AppIDs. So the data is already there; only the lookup is missing.

3. The injection point already exists — the same EditImportedGameInfoDialog pre-fill used for the GOG / Epic / Amazon flows.

So the flow would be: on local import, read the AppID from steam_appid.txt / steam_emu.ini, call getGameDetail, pre-fill title, description and cover art.

A manual "pick the right game" fallback (as the original request describes) would still be worth having for GOG builds and repacks that carry no AppID at all.

If you add a game on the latest gamehub you can choose modify and then choose whcih game it is in case the app didnt find it. Best case to try this is with Mouse P.I . The app doesnt recognise it and you have to do it manually. Even bannerlator has this option that lets you choose which steam game it is the one that you've imported but my guess is that its a different app architecture but i want to say that the logic is there
