Agenda:
- Check-in about gen. exam scheduling & timeline
- Restarting research
- Below I've listed the 4 studies I addressed in my prospectus. I figure we can address those today, and discuss other projects (according to my offboarding doc from Apr 20205) at a later time
- I've estimated percentage to completion but would like to evaluate time to completion (# of weeks, etc.) with you in this meeting
Dissertation-related projects:
Study 1: Gigplat / ABD
75% -- I think we need one check-in about the organizing principles of the paper before I set about giving you a complete first draft. We've tentatively talked about one additional piece of data collection wrt OLS settlements.
Asymmetric by Design:
Most recent draft is here: AsymmetricByDesign-2024
Tables for findings & implications – spreadsheet; document
ABD-StoryOutline
In Aut. Quarter 2024, ST & LS met to discuss revisions based on distributive and/or procedural justice – our notes are here: STLS-03102024

Study 2: Conceptual model / Policy enforcement
50% -- I'm excited to design and conduct Phase 2 - before I do so, I would like to check in about the outcomes of this study.
Phase 1: content analysis of regulations for on-demand ridehail and delivery services in the United States from 50 states and 6 cities -- data collection complete; analysis in progress
Phase 2: interviews with staff at public agencies -- in design
Study 3: DRC / Worker center model of power
75+% -- I have a wealth of drafts and memos to put towards a complete first draft. I feel good about using worker centers and power resource theory to frame our findings for an academic paper, but would like to hear your thoughts. I would aim to ideally submit this to a labor studies journal.
Writing queue:
FAACT Failure (Jan. 2025) - DWR-20250119
DRC-Tables (for interpreting findings)
An earlier, briefer sketch of this paper can be found: DeactWRep-simplified-20250110
Here is the link to the ~95% complete paper based on the survey + focus groups (in overleaf)
Study 4: QCA / Collective action x municipal regulatory response
25% -- Very much in design. I want to refamiliarize myself with QCA first, then come up with an analysis plan and a plan for any additional data collection.
Data collection complete - but data need to be cleaned according to analysis plan
