Chromium-only is the useful clue — it rules *out* the WebKit theory I was chasing and points at layer promotion, which the two engines handle differently.

Good — glad the scroll fix landed. And you were right that I hadn't fixed this one: I'd fixed the card's *text*, you were describing its *surface*. Two separate causes, both now found.
