SkillBridge

SkillBridge is a full-stack career acceleration platform for learners who want to discover a target role, close skill gaps, follow a roadmap, build projects, and showcase portfolio-ready work.

Stack

• Frontend: React + Vite + Tailwind CSS
• Backend: Node.js + Express + MongoDB + Mongoose
• Auth: JWT with role-based access

Project structure

• backend/: Express API, controllers, models, routes, middleware, seeds
• frontend/: Vite React application

Local setup

1. Install backend dependencies:
   • cd backend
   • npm install
2. Install frontend dependencies:
   • cd frontend
   • npm install
3. Start MongoDB locally on port 27017.
4. Start the backend:
   • cd backend
   • npm run dev
5. Start the frontend:
   • cd frontend
   • npm run dev

Environment variables:

• Backend expects a .env file with MONGODB_URI and JWT_SECRET values.
• Frontend uses a VITE_API_URL for the API base URL.

Default routes

• Frontend: http://localhost:5173
• Backend: http://localhost:5000/api/v1

Notes

• The platform includes onboarding, dashboard, roadmap, skill-gap analysis, portfolio builder, project library, and admin page flows.
• Seed data can be loaded with:
  • cd backend
  • npm run seed
