PureShield Release Notes

v1.1.2 - First Public Release

PureShield is now publicly available on GitHub.

This first release introduces a lightweight, privacy-respecting Android Application focused on digital wellbeing: blocking short-form content (Reels/Shorts) and filtering harmful web content, all without collecting any data.

Highlights

  • Reels/Shorts blocking for supported social apps:
    • YouTube Shorts
    • Facebook Reels and Facebook Lite Reels
    • Instagram
    • TikTok
  • Optional uninstall protection with PIN (Device Admin), designed to reduce impulsive uninstall behavior
  • Optional start-on-boot so protection can resume automatically after restart
  • Optional Private DNS presets via Android system settings for safer browsing profiles
  • Custom reminder text support for more meaningful, personal block messages
  • Low-priority persistent notification to improve blocker reliability
  • No ads for a cleaner, distraction-free experience

Privacy and Security

  • On-device processing only (no cloud processing)
  • No account required
  • No ads, no analytics, no telemetry
  • No INTERNET permission requested by the app

Notes

  • Accessibility Service is required for the core blocking feature and is user-enabled only.
  • Device Admin is optional and used only for uninstall protection when the user enables it.
