About Coreutils for Windows

If possible, could you please take a look at how to convert the output of this project to ANSI escape sequences?

Identified the issue (it uses NtWriteFile, because of course it does), but still trying to patch it. Even so, I'll hold off a release until I look at some other stuff, too. In the meantime, use Windows Terminal or termon (source; either termon cmd for everything or termon grep for specific).

Thank you for your reply. I’ve tested Windows Terminal, and it works very well. However, it seems that ansicon could be replaced.

I really like ansicon; it has been a great help to me for a long time. I’m very excited to hear that you plan to patch this issue. Until then, I’ll stop using Coreutils until the issue is fixed.

I have no plans to use Windows Terminal until you decide that this issue will no longer be fixed.

I’m very sorry—I realized I made a very serious mistake. I initially thought “termon” was a terminal project created by another developer, but today I discovered that it’s actually your project. I apologize once again.

As soon as I realized this, I immediately set out to test it.

In the meantime, I discovered that a new release of Coreutils for Windows has been published, and testing confirmed that the color display issue has been resolved.

Thank you very much again for your reply. I will continue to follow Coreutils for Windows. Could you let me know your thoughts on whether you plan to patch the display issue in Coreutils for Windows? If so, I will create another issue when I encounter the problem again.

Ah, the new version of coreutils enables the console's own sequences (that's all termon does). I have fixed it, along with a couple of other issues, but still a bit more stuff to do before a release.

I’m glad you didn’t blame me after learning that coreutils had fixed the issue on its own. Perhaps I shouldn’t have filed the issue so early—after all, it was coreutils’ first release.

Even so, I’ll still update as soon as you release a new version. I look forward to hearing more in the future.
