Development Approach
When analysing the brief, I understood that there was core functionality and additional functionality that would be implemented. For this reason my development methodology was ‘Evolutionary Prototyping’. This methodology allows you to focus on core functionality of the application and releasing incremental updates to the system which builds on the core functionality to create more features and a polished system.
To manage the progression of the application and ensure that I met all deadlines in a timely manner, I used an agile framework; Kanban. Kanban allows you to focus on tasks that matter by splitting all tasks into three sections. The first section ‘To Do’ shows all tasks that have not begun, ‘Doing’ are the tasks that are currently under progress and ‘Done’ are all tasks that have been completed towards the success of the project.
Not only are these methodologies a good fit for the project, I have previously used these two development approaches combined in previous which have been successful, therefore I knew that if I were to use these methodologies in this project it would also become a successful project. In addition, I would not be wasting valuable time researching and accustoming myself to a new methodology. To combine both methodologies, I focused all tasks that were due for a certain prototype allowing me to have a clear path to completion.
