This repository preserves coursework by Afsar Ali (Ali) on sales, promotion, discount, and profitability analysis. The source files date from 2016-2017 and the repository history ends in 2018. It is an evidence archive, not a maintained production system or a record of client work.
| Project | Source | Input | Preserved output |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cereal promotion and advertising analysis | R Markdown | CSV | HTML |
| Furniture sales and profitability analysis | R Markdown | CSV | HTML |
| Furniture profitability dashboard | Shiny source | CSV | Hosted Shiny app |
| Financial-statement ratio exercise | Source workbook is not present | Not present |
The two R Markdown files identify Afsar Ali as author and BUAN 5210 as the
course. The financial-statement PDF also bears Afsar Ali's name, but its exact
course and embedded calculation workbook are not preserved here.
- Calculated sales and volume measures and explored promotion, advertising, brand, and product relationships.
- Examined profitability, discounts, quantity, product category, region, and time patterns.
- Implemented a Shiny dashboard that filters and renders profitability, quantity, and discount views.
- Completed a class financial-ratio comparison using 2011-2015 statements.
These artifacts demonstrate historical hands-on analysis. They do not establish production deployment, business adoption, or measured revenue or profit impact.
The notebook inputs and generated HTML reports are checked in. The source calls the following R packages:
- cereal analysis:
tidyverse,GGally,gridExtra,kableExtra,plyr; - furniture analysis:
tidyverse,gridExtra,waterfall,lubridate,plotly,zoo,kableExtra,Hmisc; and - dashboard:
shiny,shinydashboard,ggplot2,tidyverse,plotly,rsconnect.
There is no recorded R version, package lockfile, session information, test suite, or CI workflow. The current audit did not re-run the notebooks, and the external Shiny app may require a hosted-service wake-up. Treat the checked-in HTML as historical output rather than proof of a current reproducible build.
MTP_Data.csv: 1,995 rows and 8 product/promotion fields.D7_Office.csv: 9,994 rows and 19 order, customer-ID, geography, product, sales, discount, and profit fields.
The original publishers, collection methods, transformations, and redistribution licenses for both CSVs are not documented in this repository. Do not treat the records as current customer data or reuse them externally without verifying their source and rights.
Built R and R Markdown coursework analyses of promotion, sales, discount, and profitability patterns, and implemented an interactive Shiny dashboard from an included retail-order dataset.
No repository license is present. Public visibility does not grant permission to reuse the code, reports, or datasets.
