📋 clipmon - Manage your clipboard history with ease

clipmon acts as a central hub for your clipboard. It stores every text snippet and image you copy. You can search these items, organize them, and send them to your phone or tablet. It runs on Windows, Mac, and Linux.

📥 How to download the app

  1. Open the release page.
  2. Look for the latest version at the top of the list.
  3. Click the file that ends in .exe for Windows.
  4. Save the file to your computer.

⚙️ Installation steps

After you download the installation file, follow these steps to set up the software.

  1. Double-click the downloaded file in your downloads folder.
  2. Follow the on-screen instructions.
  3. Choose a folder for the installation or keep the default settings.
  4. Click finish.
  5. Open clipmon from your start menu.

The app icon appears in your system tray once it runs. You can find this icon near the clock on your taskbar.

🧠 Core features

clipmon organizes your copy and paste habits. It saves time by tracking your history automatically.

  • Unlimited History: The app saves every item you copy. You never lose a link or a code snippet again.
  • Cross-Device Sync: Connect your Android or iOS device to sync text across your phone and computer.
  • Fast Search: Press a shortcut to open the search bar. Type a keyword to find past clips.
  • Privacy First: You control the data. Clear your history whenever you want.
  • Smart Categorization: The app detects links, images, and text. It sorts them into tabs.

📱 Sync with mobile devices

You can send data from your PC to your phone.

  1. Install the mobile companion app from your app store.
  2. Open the settings menu in the Windows app.
  3. Look for the device pairing section.
  4. Scan the QR code on your screen using the mobile app.
  5. Watch your clips appear on your phone shortly after.

🛠 Basic settings

You can change how the app behaves in the settings menu. Right-click the clipmon icon in your taskbar to open this menu.

  • Start with Windows: Set this to yes if you want the app to run when you turn on your PC.
  • Shortcuts: Change the hotkey used to open the search bar. The default is Ctrl + Shift + V.
  • Storage Limit: Choose how many items the app saves. A larger limit saves more history but uses more disk space.
  • Ignore Apps: Prevent the app from recording sensitive data from password managers or banking websites.

🔍 Frequently asked questions

Does the app record my passwords? No. You can add specific applications to an ignore list in the settings. This prevents clipmon from saving text copied from those apps.

How much memory does this app use? The app runs in the background with minimal impact on your system. It is designed to be lean and avoids slowing down your computer.

Can I delete specific clips? Yes. Open the search window. Hover your mouse over the item you want to remove. Click the small trash icon that appears next to it.

Does it work without an internet connection? Yes. All your history stays local on your computer. You only need the internet if you want to sync data to a mobile device.

Can I search for images? Yes. The app saves images as well as text. You can drag and drop these images into other windows or documents.

💡 Usage tips

  • Pin clips: Pin your most used snippets to the top of the list. These will stay there after you clear your history.
  • Search filters: Use #text or #image in the search bar to filter your results.
  • Select multiple: Hold the Ctrl key to select several items at once for deleting or copying.
  • Export data: You can export your history to a file if you choose to wipe your data. This is useful for backups.
