Summary
Reattempt of #44, which was unintentionally squash-merged and lost the ancestor link.
This PR merges `release` into `development` with the `-s ours` strategy: no file changes, just establishes the ancestor relationship so `acdc566` is in development's history. After this lands (must be merged as a merge commit, NOT squashed), PR #43 will be conflict-free.
