Borys Generalov 👋

I am a Backend Engineer specializing in cloud-native development and modern application platforms engineering, Data & AI, and pragmatic DevOps.

Before my current role, I worked at Microsoft as a Senior Consultant focused on Azure Cloud & AI, where I gained invaluable insights into cloud computing and its impact on the industry. Today, I am actively involved in the open-source community, contributing to a variety of projects like MixedReality, DevOps Dojo and Azure Architecture Center.

What I Work On

My work focuses on designing systems that are reliable in production and useful to engineers in practice:

  • Backend services in .NET, Node.js, and Python (and potentially any other language with AI-assisted development)
  • Cloud-native platforms on AWS and Azure
  • ETL/ELT pipelines, analytics workflows, and data integration
  • CI/CD, observability, and infrastructure automation
  • Applied AI for assisted coding, developer workflows, and agent-based tooling

My Recent Work

  • Testcontainers for .NET: I contributed to this project by adding support for AWS LocalStack, allowing developers to easily create integration tests without connecting to a remote AWS environment (PR #599).
  • Authored the integration for Temporal.io (PR #1635), enabling developers to run reliable, long-running workflow tests using a pre-configured dev-server container.
  • Azure Architecture Center: I have contributed to this project by creating sample architectures for various scenarios, such as comparing Azure and AWS offerings, using Azure Monitor, or Azure Service Bus.
  • DRAFT.DEV I write for DRAFT.DEV about Kubernetes, architecture design, and software development with .NET and NodeJs.
