Welcome to the HiBy R3 Pro II Mod project! Following the success and community feedback of the HiBy R1 Mod, this repository is dedicated to pushing the limits of the HiBy R3 Pro II (Gen 2) portable music player.
The goal is to provide a collection of firmware patches, UI enhancements, and system optimizations to make this compact powerhouse even better.
Please Remember: I'm not a developer — I'm just a curious reverse-engineering addict who can't resist poking at firmware to see what happens. 😄
I basically flip every switch I can find, cross my fingers, and release the modded firmware into the wild. There's no way I can test every single feature or setting on my own. So think of this as a community experiment: you break it, test it, report it, and together we'll figure out what actually works and what still needs tweaking. Every bug report, success story, and weird discovery helps make the next release better. Without your feedback, I'm just a guy enthusiastically pressing random buttons in an editor.
I am currently raising funds to purchase other HiBy devices to expand this modding ecosystem.
Your support directly funds the purchase of hardware for reverse engineering and firmware testing. Next Targetted device Hiby R3 Pro II.

The HiBy R3 Pro II is a significant step up in the ultra-portable DAP category, featuring a refined Linux-based HiBy OS and dual DAC architecture.

Building on the foundation of the HiBy R1 Mod, I aim to implement and refine several features for the R3 Pro II:
- ADB Access: Unlock root shell access for deep system exploration.
- Battery Optimization: Disable unnecessary background loggers (
batd) and animations to extend playback life. - Fast Boot/Scan: Optimize library scanning and database management.
- Increased Track Limit: Bump the system limit from 50,000 to 65,000+ tracks.
- LED Control: Options to disable the red LED breathing animation during standby.
- Custom Fonts: Replace stock fonts with modernized, high-readability options (like Roboto or Inter).
- Typography Fix: Fix the notorious "apostrophe spacing" bug found in stock HiBy fonts.
- Sorting Patch: Fix library sorting to ignore articles (The, A, An) and handle special characters correctly.
- Minimum Brightness: Lower the floor for comfortable night-time listening (e.g., floor 5 -> 1).
- Theme Engine: Modernize icons and layout
.viewfiles for a cleaner interface.
- Volume Cap Removal: Unlock hardware gain tables for maximum transparency (0 dB true max).
- SBC XQ Support: Enable high-bitrate SBC (up to 500+ kbps) for better Bluetooth audio quality.
- Native Feature Unlocks: Enable hidden features like Internet Radio (for English locales), Car Mode, and Standby menus.
- Parametric EQ (PEQ): Refine or migrate high-end audio engine features for precise tuning beyond MSEB.
- USB DAC Enhancements: Optimize stability and latency when using the device as a desktop DAC.
| Feature | HiBy R1 | HiBy R3 Pro II |

The R3 Pro II provides a much more robust platform for audio enthusiasts, and with custom modifications, it can rival DAPs at twice its price point.
Modifying your device firmware carries risks. I am not responsible for bricked devices, lost data, or voided warranties. Proceed with caution and always keep a backup of your original firmware.
