@theaquamarine I appreciate the willingness to provide improvements to the code. I have actually rewritten the code to utilize the Windows Logon UI for a more Windows consistent feel I just kept forgetting to set up a pull request for it. You can see it now on this repository if you would like to use that. It does not solve your request of defaulting to a certificate if there is only 1 because it also has the option of a username and password. It should only present certificates that you can authenticate with though. |

Certificates without Smart Card Log-on usage aren't any help here, so don't list them in the certificate choices. If only one viable choice is found, don't bother offering the selection prompt at all.
