Make mailing list more visible on Chipy.org

At a recent board meeting, we discussed moving the link to subscribe to the mailing list to someplace more visible on the website (currently it's in the footer at the very bottom). Now that we are part of the PSF, we should promote this tool more.

Open to suggestions as to how this should be presented to our viewers on the website...

I think the most obvious place is the "Join US" section with an Icon in that region. That being said, I haven't used the mailing list since we moved to slack. This would be easy enough to do though.

I joined recently and just saw your site for the first time. I think digital marketing best practices include having call-to-actions (CTAs) above the fold (the part of the site you see before you start scrolling). Whatever you want the main action for visitors to take should be triggered by a button above the fold. So, for example, if the main thing is to get signups to eventually get them to join, etc. then a button/form above the fold (or as a pop-up) for people to take action on would be the best thing to do.

Personally I'd close this ticket in favor of slack. Mailing lists are kind of dated. Almost every org has a slack or a discord these days. Then again it just might be my preference.

In regards to a call to action for the org it depends on the individual. Meetups, networking, donations, and the jobs board would likely be the big ones.

I agree it would be nice to have those all front and center in the landing page.

We discussed moving the sign-up button into this tile. It seems like a reasonable choice, as there's no actionable content in the "welcome" tile.
