claude logs when synced always point to workspace as thats our container specific folder.

can we do a sed or simmilar replacement to replace workspace with actual in os path that would sort out the issue with everything marking itself in workspace

Issue: workspace in claude logs — synced Claude/agent transcripts reference in-container /workspace paths that don't exist on the host OS.

Root cause

When a coding agent (claude, codex, opencode, grok) writes session transcripts/JSONL logs, it records file paths as seen from inside the devcontainer, where the project is bind-mounted at /workspace (see templates/devcontainer/compose.yaml.tmpl, line 32: target: /workspace, and working_dir: /workspace).

aidc sync-sessions pulls those transcripts verbatim in aidc::sync_session_tool (lib/aidc.sh ~line 806):

The tarball is copied byte-for-byte, so every absolute path in the host copies of the logs — e.g. ~/.claude/projects/<project>/<session>.jsonl — keeps pointing at /workspace/.... On the host OS that directory doesn't exist, so the logs "always point to workspace."

Existing PR status

No PR referenced this issue at triage time. I checked all open PRs (cyfinoid/aidc #14–#21); none address the /workspace path rewriting.

In aidc::sync_session_tool, after extracting the tarball, I rewrite the in-container mount root /workspace → real host workspace path for every synced *.jsonl/*.json transcript under $host_dst:

Verification

• shellcheck --severity=warning lib/aidc.sh → clean (matches the repo's CI).
• bash -n lib/aidc.sh → clean.
• Existing tests/resolve-oauth-token.test.sh → 7 passed, 0 failed.
• bash-compat-check.sh under bash 3.2.57 (the repo's CI floor) → OK, including set -u parsing.
• Functional test: a {"uri":"file:///workspace/README.md"} line correctly rewrites to the real host path; non-transcript files are left untouched.

Remaining notes / follow-up

• The sed rewrite uses /workspace as the match string. Because that's the container's single repo mount root, it won't collide with ordinary subpaths. Real-world review is still worthwhile (see below).
• If you'd prefer platform-agnostic path handling beyond a raw string replacement (e.g. resolving symlinks first so /workspace maps to the canonical host path), that's a reasonable follow-up, but the raw replacement matches the issue's stated ask.

Verdict: the PR is a small, low-risk, well-scoped fix that directly implements the requested behavior. Please review and, if satisfied, merge.
