Repo bloat: ~270MB Windows audio binaries tracked in git #17

Description

@daschinmoy21

Summary

Multiple ~68MB Windows audio capture binaries (and duplicates) were committed to the repository, bloating clone size (~74MB .git before cleanup of working tree).

Files (previously tracked)

  • src-tauri/bin/AudioCapture-x86_64-pc-windows-msvc.exe (~68MB)
  • src-tauri/src/audio/windows/AudioCapture-x86_64-pc-windows-msvc.exe (duplicate)
  • src-tauri/src/audio/windows/Windows-x86_64-pc-windows-msvc.exe (duplicate)
  • src-tauri/src/audio/windows/Windows.bin (duplicate)
  • Plus .pdb, NAudio.dll, test.wav, temp_audio.pcm, test.pdf

Fix applied (partial)

  • Expanded .gitignore for *.exe/*.pdb/*.dll/*.bin under windows audio paths
  • git rm --cached to stop tracking these artifacts
  • Source remains (program.cs, Windows.csproj); build via bun run build:audio on Windows

Remaining work

  • Prefer Git LFS or CI artifact download for prebuilt Windows helper if source build is not always practical
  • Optionally rewrite history (git filter-repo) to purge blobs from older commits (coordinated release)
  • Document Windows build of AudioCapture in README
  • Ensure release CI builds the helper on windows-latest instead of relying on a committed binary
