- Germany recorded a net loss of 91,067 native-born residents in 2024; its cumulative loss since 2005 exceeds one million.
- 17 of the 19 European countries analysed lost more native-born residents than they gained.
- 76% of German emigrants hold a university degree, against 25% of the resident population.
- Only Bulgaria (+5,647) and Lithuania (+7,747) turned a long-run loss into net return migration.
