Cash is Clear Maximizer

The interactive strategy browser. Loads the strategy data at runtime from data.json in this repo and renders a filterable, searchable list.

Where the data comes from

The strategy data lives in this repo as data.json. The app fetches it on load via GitHub's raw endpoint (see DATA_URL in app.js):

Because the app reads raw directly, edits go live without waiting on a Pages rebuild, and anyone with write access to this repo can update the data — no personal accounts, no Gist.

The app accepts either the converter format { "columns": [...], "strategies": [...] } or a plain array of strategy objects. The columns array, when present, sets the column order.

Updating the data (no coding required)

1. Generate a fresh data.json with the Admin Converter Tool (drop the master spreadsheet → Download data.json).
2. Open data.json in this repo on GitHub: https://github.com/Cash-Is-Clear/maximizer/blob/main/data.json
3. Click the pencil (Edit) icon → select all → paste the new JSON → Commit changes. (Or use Add file → Upload files to drop the downloaded data.json straight in.)
4. Hard-refresh the app (Cmd/Ctrl+Shift+R). The raw URL is CDN-cached briefly, so it may take a minute or two to reflect the change.

That's it — edit the file on GitHub, and the app picks it up. To let someone else do this, add them to the Cash-Is-Clear org with write access to this repo (Settings → Collaborators and teams).

Running locally

The app fetches over HTTPS, so serve it (don't open index.html via file://):

generate_data.js is a legacy Node script (uses the xlsx dep in package.json) that produced data.json from a spreadsheet directly. The Admin Converter Tool is the current, browser-based way to do this — prefer it.

Files

File	Purpose
index.html	App shell (loads app.js).
data.json	The strategy data the app renders. Edit this to update the app.
app.js	Fetches data.json, renders the list, handles search/filter/sort.

generate_data.js	Legacy local spreadsheet → data.json script.

Deployment

Pushing to main triggers .github/workflows/static.yml, which deploys the whole repo to GitHub Pages. No build step.
