Draft blog post will be published immediately

High Severity

The PR title and description explicitly say this is a "draft blog post," but the frontmatter has no draft field and getAllPosts in src/lib/mdx.ts has no draft-filtering logic. Once merged, the post immediately appears in the blog listing, becomes accessible at its slug URL, and is included in the RSS feed via scripts/generate-rss.js. If the intent is to keep this unpublished, it needs a mechanism to prevent that.

# Final Wooden Snake shed: deleting Reddit, leaving old skin behind, and preparing for Fire Horse

Hey there, cosmic coders and digital boundary-setters.

One year ago, I wrote [Pythoness Perspective: Lunar New Year Edition](/blog/lunar-new-year-2025) and set the tone for this cycle: observe first, adapt to reality, and find smarter paths forward.

Now we are closing that Wooden Snake loop.

Over this past year, I wrote through the whole arc:

- [Monthly GRIT Framework for your Digital Spring Cleaning](/blog/monthly-grit-framework-for-your-digital-spring-cleaning)
- [The Y.O.U. Framework: Building Systems That Work With Your Brain](/blog/the-you-framework)
- [AI Myth-Busting: Your Critical Thinking Toolkit for the AI Era](/blog/ai-mythbusting-critical-thinking-toolkit)
- [Back to Basics: Digital Organization & AI-Ready Workflows](/blog/back-to-basics-ai-ready-workflows)
- [I'm Off TikTok For Good: A Political Boycott and the Final Snake Skin Shed](/blog/off-tiktok-for-good-tech-ethics-and-boundaries)
- [Rest Mode: Creativity, Organization, and the Wooden Snake's Final Shed](/blog/rest-mode-creativity-and-the-wooden-snake-shed)

This post is the synthesis.

And this is the final shed: I have now deleted even my Reddit accounts.

## What the Wooden Snake year actually taught me

### 1) Observe before you judge

This started with a full audit, not a dramatic exit.

I tracked where my attention went, which tools supported my nervous system, and which ones produced constant background stress. In [Digital Spring Cleaning work](/blog/monthly-grit-framework-for-your-digital-spring-cleaning), that looked like listing subscriptions, mapping energy, and noticing friction points before changing anything.

In [Rest Mode](/blog/rest-mode-creativity-and-the-wooden-snake-shed), it looked like six months of journaling and methodical scanning/shredding of old paperwork. That process taught me the same rule as any good refactor: you do not rip everything out blindly. You observe patterns, then remove what no longer serves.

### 2) Adapt to the tool's true nature

Some platforms are built for extractive engagement. They are doing what they were designed to do.

Once I accepted that, my question changed from "How do I use this better?" to "Does this tool's business model conflict with my values and health?"

That shift changed my stack and my expectations:

- [Meta accounts were already gone](/blog/off-tiktok-for-good-tech-ethics-and-boundaries).
- [TikTok was deleted](/blog/off-tiktok-for-good-tech-ethics-and-boundaries) after ownership shifts crossed my red line.
- Reddit, which I had kept for reposting, is now gone too.

Adapting to a tool's true nature also changed my approach to AI and automation. In [AI Myth-Busting](/blog/ai-mythbusting-critical-thinking-toolkit) and [Back to Basics](/blog/back-to-basics-ai-ready-workflows), I kept returning to one point: clear inputs, verification, and grounded workflows beat hype every time.

### 3) Find smarter paths forward

Shedding without replacement creates panic. Shedding with design creates freedom.

So this year was never about disappearing from the internet. It was about building better systems:

- smaller, more intentional community spaces
- brain-friendly workflows and low-friction automation
- clear boundaries around attention, data, and platform dependence
- creating from owned channels first (newsletter, blog, long-form)

That is the Wooden Snake move in practice: patient, strategic, and deeply creative.

## Why this stopped being "just personal preference"

My boundaries got sharper because the broader pattern got sharper.

If you look at the last year of reporting, the same themes keep repeating: addictive design, legal pushback, concentration of power, and expanding data pipelines between platforms and institutions.

Here are some of the sources that shaped my thinking:

- [Reuters: Meta must face US state lawsuits over teen social media addiction](https://www.reuters.com/legal/meta-must-face-us-state-lawsuits-over-teen-social-media-addiction-2024-10-15/)
- [CNN: Lawsuit alleges social media giants buried their own research on teen mental health harms](https://www.cnn.com/2025/11/25/tech/social-media-youth-mental-health-lawsuit-meta-tiktok-snap-youtube)
- [CNBC: Meta halted internal research suggesting social media harm, court filing alleges](https://www.cnbc.com/2025/11/23/meta-internal-research-social-media-harm-court-filing.html)
- [European Commission: formal proceedings against TikTok under the Digital Services Act](https://digital-strategy.ec.europa.eu/en/news/commission-opens-formal-proceedings-against-tiktok-under-digital-services-act)
- [Meta transparency reports: government data requests](https://transparency.meta.com/reports/government-data-requests/)
- [Google transparency report: user data requests](https://transparencyreport.google.com/user-data/overview)
- [Reddit transparency reporting and law enforcement guidelines](https://redditinc.com/policies/transparency-report)
- [Fortune: Jared Kushner emerges in major media dealmaking backed by Gulf capital](https://fortune.com/2025/12/08/jared-kushner-paramount-warner-netflix-trump-ellison-saudi-antitrust/)
- [Reuters: Larry Ellison's expanding influence across tech and media](https://www.reuters.com/business/media-telecom/larry-ellison-is-back-top-48-years-after-he-co-founded-oracle-2025-09-12/)

I am not sharing these as a panic list.

I am sharing them because this is the social context many of us are making platform decisions inside of.

## The final Reddit deletion

In January, when I published my TikTok boycott post, I still listed Reddit as one of my active channels.

That was true then.

Today, it is no longer true.

Deleting Reddit is the end of this Wooden Snake cycle for me. It is the part where the old skin is fully off. There is always an itchy phase when you leave a platform that shaped your routines. Then comes quiet. Then comes clarity.

## Fire Horse preview: what changes now

If Wooden Snake was about strategic shedding, Fire Horse is about movement.

I am carrying three practices into this next cycle:

1. **Embrace dynamic energy**
Move faster on decisions that protect attention, health, and creative independence.

2. **Lead with independence**
Build on owned channels and reduce dependence on platforms that can shift terms, moderation, or ownership overnight.

3. **Innovate with passion**
Use this cleared ground to ship more human-first tools, more practical resources, and more work that helps neurodivergent creatives build real digital fluency.

For me, that also means Google is the next major system to reduce and replace through 2026, intentionally and in phases.

Some people will experience this year as sudden combustion in tech.

I think of it more like a prairie burn. Old growth burns fast. The soil gets honest. New systems can finally take root.
The universe burns off what it needs, and we choose what to plant next.

## What to carry forward

### The Wooden Snake's callout: what to carry with you

Observe longer. Move cleaner. Keep what is alive.

### The Fire Horse's callout: what to charge forward with

Choose speed with intention. Build with courage. Create what you actually want to live inside.

Keep your code clean, your boundaries clear, and your creative fire protected.

Yours in algorithms and accountability,
