PostgreSQL Database Management System

This directory contains the source code distribution of the PostgreSQL database management system.

PostgreSQL is an advanced object-relational database management system that supports an extended subset of the SQL standard, including transactions, foreign keys, subqueries, triggers, user-defined types and functions. This distribution also contains C language bindings.

Simple pglite-native Overview

This repository also carries a native embedded build target named pglite-native. It packages the PostgreSQL backend into a shared library for single-process use, with the main output installed at:

• dist/lib/pglite.so
• public C API header: pglite/includes/pglite.h

Typical native workflow:

./build.sh

Useful variants:

./build.sh build    # build only
./build.sh test     # run native tests
DEBUG=true ./build.sh

The native test suite lives in native-tests/ and exercises the exported libpglite.so C API.
