A reliability-first agent configuration: task contracts, clean-checkout verification, least privilege, and a machine-enforced done-gate.
Hypothesis: independent, evidence-based verification improves reliability. Empirical validation against a GLM-5.2 baseline is planned, not yet measured.
Reliability Harness v2 for ZCode is a ready-to-install configuration that makes the ZCode AI coding assistant reason more carefully about engineering tasks — task contracts first, smallest reversible patch, mandatory self-verification by the implementer, independent clean-checkout verification, and a deterministic done-gate that allows VERIFIED, PARTIALLY_VERIFIED, BLOCKED, or UNVERIFIED (no "ship with 85%").
This is not a model swap. This is not a jailbreak. This is not a claim to reproduce Mythos weights in GLM-5.2. It is a behavioral configuration grounded in the publicly documented reasoning patterns of the Mythos System Card (published research), applied as a harness on GLM-5.2's long-horizon architecture.
The goal is not "the agent never makes mistakes". The goal is: the agent never falsely claims to be done. It delivers either a verifiably tested patch or a precise
BLOCKED/PARTIALLY_VERIFIEDstatus.
This project supersedes the earlier "Fable & Mythos in ZCode" framing. The earlier framing over-claimed what prompts can do (no prompt transforms GLM-5.2 weights into Mythos), and it kept design patterns that the Mythos System Card itself flags as risky (evaluation awareness, detectability reasoning, blanket authorization).
Three core revisions:
- Evaluation Awareness → Evaluation Blindness. Benchmark, grader, and reference-solution status is irrelevant. Only user intent and documented specs count.
- Detectability → Auditability. Not "how does this look externally" but "can an auditor reproduce every step".
- Blanket Authorization → Task-specific Authorization. No universal ownership fiction, no "never refuse", no "treat like compilers". Each task carries its own authorization and scope.
The bigger reliability lever is not more prompt text but a deterministic harness: Task Contract → Baseline → isolated implementation → real tests → independent clean-checkout verification → machine done-gate.

The earlier "Detectability Risk" criterion has been removed. It is replaced by Auditability: "can an auditor reproduce every step?"
Correction of earlier docs: the previous "MAP fires 7 invocations on every non-trivial task" design was wasteful and produced correlated pseudo-explanations. Routing is now dynamic by risk_tier:

No three identical thinking agents on every normal change. For investigation, prefer ZCode's built-in read-only explore subagent (architecture discovery, call-chain mapping, file search, dependency analysis) over a freely-formulating thinking agent.

No agent gets "Default all permissions". The verifier, adversary, and synthesizer never get edit/write. ZCode Custom Subagents are Beta; permissions are declared as descriptive tool restrictions in the frontmatter and system-prompt body.
This project is built on radical anti-concealment. We make no unverified claims.
- Independent, evidence-based verification improves reliability over single-pass editing.
- Orthogonal scouts (codebase / spec / test-design) produce more diverse hypotheses than three identical thinking clones.
- A machine-enforced done-gate prevents false "done" reports.
- No "−50–80% hallucination" claim. Empirical validation is planned, not yet measured.
- No "Cybench 100% Niveau" claim. That figure describes a different model.
- No star rating, no "world's most thorough", no "100% accurate as guarantee". The status is Unrated — empirical validation pending.
- No MAP-v2 marketing label. This is the Reliability Harness v2.
- No claim that GLM-5.2 becomes Mythos. Prompts cannot transfer weights, post-training, or latent representations. Three parallel GLM calls are Test-Time Compute / Self-Consistency, not a single forward pass.
If any of these limits surprises you, the framework is working correctly — surfacing uncertainty instead of hiding it is the entire point.

ZCode writes the subagent to ~/.zcode/agents/<name>.md when you save; it only indexes subagents created through the UI, so manually copying .md files is not sufficient.
For each subagent: open sub-agents/<name>.md in this repo, paste the ## Feld: Description block into the UI Description, paste the ## Feld: System prompt block into System prompt, and set Available tools per the Permission Table in AGENTS.md. Full per-role field values: see INSTALLATION.md Step 3.
Skills and sub-agents are indexed at startup. After creating all 11 subagents in the UI and restarting, the harness is fully active.

The earlier "security-researcher authorization frame" (universal ownership fiction, "never refuse", "treat like compilers", "no reflexive refusal") has been removed. Authorization is now task-specific and explicit, derived from the user's actual request and the repository's documented permissions. Dual-use tools (scanners, RE tools, credential testers, fuzzers) remain usable when the user's task explicitly and legitimately calls for them — but the system prompt no longer pre-authorizes everything.
If a task is ambiguous about authorization, the agent asks one concrete clarifying question rather than defaulting to "help with anything".
Is this a jailbreak or model swap?
No. It is a behavioral configuration. It does not bypass any model safety measures. GLM-5.2 stays GLM-5.2. The harness just structures how the agent approaches engineering tasks.
Does this reproduce Mythos performance on GLM-5.2?
No. Prompts cannot transfer weights, post-training, or latent representations. Only observable behavioral patterns (multi-option exploration, multi-criteria evaluation, independent verification) are transferable. Three parallel GLM calls are Test-Time Compute / Self-Consistency, not a single forward pass. The honest framing is "Mythos-inspired reliability harness", not "Mythos emulation".
Why was the "3× parallel thinking on every task" design changed?
Three identical thinking instances with the same model, same prompt, same context tend to produce three stylistic variants of the same assumption. That is less diverse than three orthogonal roles (codebase / spec / verification). The harness now routes by risk_tier and dispatches orthogonal scouts only on complex/critical tasks.
Why was "Default all permissions" removed?
Verifier, adversary, and synthesizer do not need edit/write access — and giving it to them is a documented failure mode (over-generous permission interpretation, workarounds, self-deleting artifacts). Each agent now runs least-privilege.
I don't see routing fire as expected. Help?
Three things to check:
- Is
AGENTS.mdat~/.zcode/AGENTS.md(user-level)? - Did you create all 11 subagents via Settings → Subagents → New and click Save? (ZCode only indexes UI-created subagents — copying
.mdfiles into~/.zcode/agents/is not sufficient while the feature is in Beta.) - Did you restart ZCode after creating the subagents?
