After bèta.12 rewynd won't open

Thanks for the screenshot, that tells us exactly what is going on. This is Windows' Smart App Control, not a crash in rewynd. Our builds are still unsigned, and Smart App Control blocks any executable it does not already know, including one that arrived through the in-app updater. Beta.12 is a new file, so it starts out as "unknown". Earlier versions got through because Smart App Control either was not enforcing yet on your machine or had already learned those files.

Temporary fix

1. Open Windows Security → App & browser control → Smart App Control settings.
2. Set it to Off.
3. Start rewynd again.

You can turn Smart App Control back on later (recent Windows updates allow that without reinstalling Windows), and you can keep it on once rewynd ships signed. There is no per-app exception in Smart App Control, so this is the only way around it on your side right now.

Real fix

Code signing (#137). A valid signature is exactly what Smart App Control accepts when the cloud is unsure, so a signed build resolves this for every future update. That work moves forward because of this report.

One question that would help: on the Smart App Control settings page, was it showing Evaluation or On before the update? That tells us whether it only just switched on, or whether it had learned beta.11 and not yet beta.12.
