QOVER EXERCISE – FINAL ROUND RECRUITING

IMPORTANT NOTE:

Of course, we prefer a full implementation, but if you don’t have enough time, then focus on what you

believe is essential and once you will present us the exercise, you will explain what you would have

done if you had more time. If you made a specific choice for a tech but would have make another

choice if you had more time, it’s fine for us.

Solution to be implemented:

It is about getting the price for an insurance contract based on specific parameter of a car. There are

four major parts:

  1. Log-in

  2. The business rules engine: We decide whether the system agrees to give a price or not

  3. The rating engine: The system computes the right price

  4. Confirmation: μthe quote is saved in a DB and sent by email to the customer

STEP 1 – LOG-IN and Authentication

The customer must first log-in on the web platform and can at any time log-out. We don’t need yet

the possibility to reset the password. For the time being, one log-in shall exist:

Log-in:

contact@example.me

Password: guest

STEP 2 – Quick Quote – Fill-In

Three fields should be created and one button.

The customer should manually fill-in the three fields:

Field 1: Name of the driver

Field 2: A dropdown with the make of cars. The possible values are: Audi, BMW, Porsche

Field 3: The value of the car (the purchase price including VAT)

Button: The label of the button should be “GET PRICE”

STEP 3 – Quick Quote – Compute Price

Once the customer click on the button “GET PRICE” (or you can make it more user friendly if you want)

the following actions should take place:

  1. Business Rules Acceptation:

If the value of the car is below 5.000 € or above 75.000 € -> REJECT. Print the message error

and the reason. Log it.

  1. Compute the price

The price that should be returned is as follow:

Price

AUDI 250 EUR + 0,3% x Value of the Car

BMW 150 EUR + 0,4% x Value of the Car

PORSCHE 500 EUR + 0,7% x Value of the Car

The price should be displayed to the customer. Example of format: 1,500.34 EUR (so English style).

STEP 4 – Storage of all quick quotes

All quotes done must be saved in a database. The following info should be saved:

  • User Log-in

  • Date & Time (of the push on the button get quote)

  • Name

  • Make of the Car

  • Value of the Car

  • Status: Reject or OK business rules engine)

  • Price (if Status is OK)

STEP 5 – Email Confirmation

At the end of the process, an email should be sent automatically with the information to

contact@example.me

The email should be the following:

Dear [Name],

We confirm that you have bought an insurance contract for your [Make of the CAR] which value is

[Value of the Car].

The price to be paid is [Price].

Best regards,

QOVER
