What is it?

The tinyFilter extension is a tiny Web content filtering tool. As any other content filter, it uses predefined rules to filter a variety of Web sites. Additionally, tinyFilter provides a profanity filter to mask words that may be offensive to the user.

What is the “list subscription?”

The list subscription is a text file that is used to maintain the filter’s lists up-to-date and, for bandwidth’s sake, it is updated every 72 hours. These subscriptions are recommended to those users who prefer using someone else’s filtering rules without having to adjust their settings; however, if a list subscription is enabled, the user may not alter the subscription’s rules1. If necessary, the user may generate and maintain his/her own list subscription.

1 Although list subscription rules should not be changed, the user may certainly make changes and use the non-subscription lists.

Is this really free?

Yes! tinyFilter is free under the GPL v2 licence.

Where can I download it from?

You may download tinyFilter from the official Google Chrome Extensions page.
