Conversation
Records the shared funded-habitat economics (seed, sponsored, recurring, and revenue backing; build/operate/protect purposes), the Temper-derived contract-first mechanisms worth adopting, and the hosted-cost requirement that keeps hosting funding independent of provider allowances. Adds hill-climbing gates and the initial contract/resource experiments, while keeping financial state and credentials host-owned. What changed
ALGAL now has an evidence-backed direction for a Lisp-shaped authoring workbench. The experiment compares eleven paired programs, lowers the Lisp-shaped forms through the real compiler, and requires exact manifest parity. The north-star plan records the provisional decision to keep ALGAL's durable runtime and readable source contract while exploring Lisp as an optional authoring and repair layer.
The workbench specification defines bounded S-expression reading, deterministic hygienic macro expansion, expansion and source identity, diagnostics, snapshot-based repairs, and the boundary between source tooling and the runtime.
Evidence
bun run checkpasses: typecheck, lint, tests, docs check, and site build. The interactive repair and timed iteration study remains the gate for making the workbench the default source surface.
