This sounds like a great contribution to me. All the CA functionality should live in a CA-specific package within this repository. An API that mirrors to REST API of the Fabric CA as cleanly and simply as practical is probably what we want, which I think the one you are referencing essentially is.

If practical, I would suggest taking a similar approach to the existing APIs in this repository, and allow some kind of CA object to be created from an http.Client and whatever other credentials or context will be needed for each CA interaction by a given identity. The CA object can then expose the required client API calls. Allowing the HTTP client to be passed in allows configuration flexibility for the client application, and the opportunity for unit tests to use a mock/stub HTTP client for testing.

I would avoid taking filenames as parameters for configuration (such as certificates) and take actual objects, even if they are just []byte, leaving the client application flexibility on how this information is stored and retrieved. For operations like signing, I would prefer for the CA / API to receive a function or interface from the calling application rather than requiring them to pass private credentials to the API if they are not strictly necessary.

We need to avoid adding dependencies on Fabric (or Fabric CA, or fabric-sdk-go) packages. It is fine to lift out relevant pieces of code from those packages and use them in this repository. Just be careful to keep the implementation as simple as practical. It is just a REST client.

It would be good to deliver implementation in small increments. For example, perhaps starting with just register and enroll.
