roadmap: Codeberg/Forgejo adapter (LOW PRIORITY) — gated on Codeberg API stability #62

Description

@hyperpolymath

Origin

ROADMAP.adoc §"Remaining Work (v0.2.0 -- Q1-Q2 2026)", "Codeberg Adapter (LOW PRIORITY)" (lines 137-139):

=== Codeberg Adapter (LOW PRIORITY)

  • Implement PlatformAdapter for Codeberg (Forgejo/Gitea API)

Scope

Implement the PlatformAdapter trait for Codeberg / Forgejo / Gitea:

  • Webhook receiver for Codeberg PR/MR events
  • API client for posting verification status back (Forgejo / Gitea REST API; both should share most of the surface)
  • Authentication via Forgejo personal access tokens
  • Smoke-test against a Forgejo instance (codeberg.org or self-hosted)

Sibling adapters that already exist: GitHub, GitLab — refer to those for the trait shape.

PR count: small (~3-5 PRs — client + webhook + auth + tests).

Dependencies

  • UPSTREAM-NOTED: Forgejo and Gitea diverged from a common ancestor. The adapter should target Forgejo's API (the actively-maintained fork) and degrade gracefully against older Gitea
  • Low priority per the roadmap classification — this can sit gated until owner signals interest
  • No echidnabot-internal blocker; the PlatformAdapter trait is presumably already factored from the GitHub + GitLab adapters

Why filed

To make the v0.2.0 Codeberg-adapter commitment trackable. Today the bullet lives only as a checklist line in ROADMAP.adoc with no issue. Filing as LOW PRIORITY lets the owner park it openly without it counting as stale; the next session that decides to ship on Codeberg has a clean entry point.
