ci(secret-scan): canonical estate scanner caller, key scan (D243) - #3
Conversation
Secret-Scan-Floor (D243/D244) requires the context `scan / gitleaks` estate-wide. This repo had no secret-scanner caller. Write the canonical caller: job key `scan`, reusable pinned to standards@74d2f66, push trigger on the default branch `main`. actionlint: new file clean (findings in previous file: n/a). 📝 SummarySummary by CodeRabbit
WalkthroughThis change adds a GitHub Actions workflow that runs a pinned shared secret scanner on pull requests and pushes to ChangesSecret scanning
Priority: ➖ Normal Estimated code review effort: 2 (Simple) | ~8 minutes Change: Feature Merge Risk: 🔵 Low · up to The scanner configuration is mergeable with bounded owner awareness, but removing unnecessary secret inheritance would reduce credential exposure without changing scanning behavior. Security Architecture ReviewSecurity architecture risk: 🔵 Low · up to The workflow improves secret scanning but unnecessarily shares available secrets with the shared scanner. The scanner is pinned to an immutable revision, uses read-only repository permissions, and does not reference those inherited secrets. No direct secret-exfiltration path was demonstrated. - Line 27: Remove the `secrets: inherit` entry from the workflow’s
reusable-workflow call; retain the existing `contents: read` permission and do
not add `pull-requests: read`.

… privilege) The reusable at standards@74d2f66 references no secrets: gitleaks runs as a checksum-verified binary, not gitleaks-action, so `secrets: inherit` only forwarded every repository and organisation secret to it (CWE-250, flagged by CodeRabbit and Hypatia WH008). The earlier comment calling it REQUIRED was copied from the reusable's own stale header note and is corrected here. actionlint clean.
