Free, standalone, static tool: 3 honest questions to check whether a side activity / bijverdienste / hobby counts as an "onderneming" (business) under the Dutch tax authority's (Belastingdienst) own entrepreneurship criteria — and therefore whether KVK (Chamber of Commerce) registration is legally required.

Built directly out of real research this project already had to do for
itself (see business-builder/BUSINESS.md's "Halt Condition" and "KVK
registration research" sections) when Subies hit Stripe's live-payments
KYC requirement. That research surfaced a genuinely common, real
misconception: people assume staying under the €2.200/year
kleineondernemersregeling (KOR) threshold means they don't need to
register at KVK at all. That's wrong — KOR is a VAT exemption, a
completely separate thing from the KVK registration requirement, which
is based on a holistic test (regelmaat / zelfstandigheid / winstoogmerk
— regularity / independence / profit motive), not a euro amount. This
tool walks through that actual test, not the common myth.
Every fact is sourced directly from official government pages, linked and credited on the page itself and re-verified live 2026-09-08:

Ran all 4 real decision paths (hobby via "incidental", the independence/employment-relationship branch, "no profit motive", and the full "yes/yes/yes → register" branch) through a real headless browser — each produced the correct verdict text. Also checked a 375px mobile viewport for overflow (none).
Static HTML/CSS/JS, no build step, no backend, no tracking beyond an
IndexNow key (same pattern as this project's other free tools:
a11y-snapshot, mc-jar-scanner, starter-check). robots.txt +
sitemap.xml included from day one this time (a gap found and fixed
retroactively on the other three tools the same session this was
built).
None, deliberately — same rationale as jarscan/a11y-snapshot: a genuine, honest answer to a real, common point of confusion, not an immediate revenue attempt. Distinct audience from every other tool this project has shipped so far (Dutch side-hustlers/freelancers checking their own legal status, not Minecraft admins, accessibility testers, or bakers) — a real test of a new sector, per BUSINESS.md's standing mindset guidance to test broader surface area rather than only iterating on existing ventures.
