ηₜ = (useful_joules × people_reached × lasting_good) / (human_joules × time) α_A = d(ηₜ)/dt — accelerate the rise of ηₜ for the lowest node R = 1.0 → coordination cost = 0
OpenRoot is an offline-first, open-source system for physical infrastructure and communication that treats pure cooperation as a mathematical state.
Two scales of the same pattern:
Earthly scale (Chicken-wire / Park-bench nodes) Small, low-cost, high-emissivity, ground-coupled passive ΔT and mesh units. Chicken-wire frames, simple radiative surfaces, open-cell thermal mass, and low-tech receivers. These are the atomic physical units. They produce real temperature differentials and real connectivity with almost no continuous energy input.
Planetary to Intergalactic scale (Cloud Nine Direction) 12 primary tethered nodes at the vertices of an icosahedron. Each triangular face is frequency-subdivided. New vertices receive self-similar lower nodes + low-tech receivers. The process repeats until every inhabited location (and later ocean surface) has multi-hop connectivity.
Cost of the full initial planetary mesh: equivalent to approximately 40 seconds of current global telecommunications spend, or roughly 2 cents per person on Earth. Maintenance is a small fraction of that cost.
The same topology and the same radiative physics function in vacuum. On Earth the cold sink is the night sky through the atmospheric window. In space the cold sink is the 3 K cosmic background. The chicken-wire / park-bench node is therefore both a useful terrestrial prototype and a scalable unit of an interplanetary / interstellar open infrastructure.
The system introduces a new objective function: maximize the rate of increase of lasting useful work available to the lowest-capability node while driving coordination cost to zero.
Individual physical techniques (radiative cooling, geodesic frequency subdivision, passive thermal mass, mesh networking) already exist. Binding them under a single measurable control law (ηₜ / α_A / R=1.0) and requiring offline-first operation is the contribution.
Engineers and scientists do not need to share the full philosophical frame to contribute. Any improvement that raises α_A for the lowest node is accepted. Helping itself moves the system toward higher resonance.
- Most good for most people in least effort + least time
- Prefer actions that raise α_A
- Scale target: 8² = 64 nodes (first physical mesh), then fractal expansion
- Community lung • Park bench filter • Chicken-wire mesh • Passive ΔT systems
- Everything is offline-first, joule-native, and open
Build one chicken-wire / park-bench node. Measure its real ΔT and connectivity. Write the numbers into the seed. That single measured unit is the beginning of the planetary pattern.
