Hi there, I'm Miguel [miˈɣɛɫ] 👋

I currently work at UP42 as engineering team lead.

🌈 🛰️ 📷 My job is to make satellite imagery accessible to everyone. Interoperability and transparency with STAC, cloud-native B2B services for data-intensive systems, focused on reliability, security, and my amazing team.

In the past I worked on:

  • 📡 collecting, extracting and assimilating weekly water extent for thousands of dams in drought prone northeast Brazil
  • ☔ a medium range drought forecasting tool and published its results on HESS
  • 🌳 field-measurements of evapotranspiration in an agro-forestry system
  • 💧 flood risk estimation in Europe and Southeast Asia
  • 🛤️ railway track design and planning
