To run the same suite headless from the CLI (requires `npx playwright install chromium` once):

All tests must pass before committing changes to `index.html`.

CI: `.github/workflows/tests.yml` runs the full suite headless (Playwright + Chromium, via `.github/run-tests.mjs`) on every push to main and every PR.

### Test Contract: `window.XMLShield`

`tests.html` can only reach functions that `index.html` exports on the `window.XMLShield` object (defined at the bottom of the `<script>`, ~line 2270). The function table below lists internal functions, but only those re-exported there are testable. When you add a function the regression suite needs to exercise, add it to that export object — otherwise the test cannot call it.

## Architecture

Everything is in `index.html` (~2280 lines): CSS in `<style>`, HTML markup in `<body>`, and JavaScript in `<script>`. No modules, no bundler.
