⚙️ Getting Started

Prerequisites

Make sure you have installed:

• Node.js
• npm
• MongoDB / MongoDB Atlas
• A Cloudinary account if image/file upload functionality is required

1. Clone the Repository

git clone https://github.com/YOUR_USERNAME/worknetic.git
cd worknetic

2. Backend Setup

cd backend
npm install

Create a .env file inside backend/.

Use .env.example as a reference:

MONGO_URI=your_mongodb_connection_string
PORT=8000
CLOUD_NAME=your_cloudinary_cloud_name
API_KEY=your_cloudinary_api_key
API_SECRET=your_cloudinary_api_secret
SECRET_KEY=your_jwt_secret

Start the backend using the command defined in backend/package.json.

3. Frontend Setup

Open a new terminal:

cd frontend
npm install

Start the development server:

npm run dev

Open the local URL displayed by Vite in your browser.

🔐 Environment & Security

Sensitive configuration is intentionally excluded from this repository.

The project uses:

.env

for local environment configuration.

A safe template is provided as:

backend/.env.example

⚠️ Never commit:

• MongoDB credentials
• Cloudinary API secrets
• JWT secrets
• API keys
• Production environment variables

🧪 Testing & Development Notes

The project has been prepared for local development with separate frontend and backend applications.

Before running the application:

1. Install frontend dependencies.

4. Start the backend.
