<p><font size="2" face="Verdana">This directory contains all the
necessary materials for installing and programming </font><font
size="3"><em>Qi</em></font><font size="2" face="Verdana"> under
CLisp, CMU Lisp, Allegro CL and SBCL.</font></p>
<p><font size="3" face="Verdana"><strong><u>Linux Installation
under CLisp</u></strong></font></p>
<p><font size="2" face="Verdana">You need to install CLisp on
your machine. Go to </font><a href="http://clisp.cons.org/"><font
size="2" face="Verdana">clisp.cons.org</font></a><font size="2"
face="Verdana"> for details on how to do this.</font></p>
<p><font size="2" face="Verdana">Run CLisp within this directory
and then type</font></p>
<p align="center"><font color="#00FF00" size="2" face="Verdana"><strong>(LOAD
"install.lisp")</strong></font></p>
<p><font size="2" face="Verdana">to the CLisp prompt. The
installation program will build an image </font><font
color="#00FF00" size="2" face="Verdana">lispinit.mem</font><font
size="2" face="Verdana"> within this directory.</font></p>
<p><font size="2" face="Verdana">To run </font><font size="3"><em>Qi</em></font><font
size="2" face="Verdana"> set the file </font><font
color="#00FF40" size="2" face="Verdana">Qi-Linux-CLisp</font><font
size="2" face="Verdana"> to executable and execute it. </font></p>
<p><font size="3" face="Verdana"><strong><u>Windows Installation
under CLisp</u></strong></font></p>
<p><font size="2" face="Verdana">To build a Windows installation
from this directory using the latest CLisp, download CLisp from </font><a
href="http://clisp.cons.org/"><font size="2" face="Verdana">clisp.cons.org</font></a><font
size="2" face="Verdana">. Run CLisp within this directory and
then type</font></p>

has been tested on CMU Common Lisp 19c. Go to </font><a
href="http://www.cons.org/cmucl/"><font size="2" face="Verdana">www.cons.org/cmucl</font></a><font
size="2" face="Verdana"> to get CMU Lisp, and install it. Enter
CMU Lisp and type </font></p>

install it. Enter SBCL<strong> </strong>within this directory and

under Allegro</u></strong> </font></p>
<p><font size="2" face="Verdana">This can be done in two ways. </font><font
size="3"><em>Qi</em></font><font size="2" face="Verdana"> has
only been tested under Allegro 7.0 under Windows. </font></p>
<p><font size="2" face="Verdana"><strong>Building a Static Image</strong></font></p>
<p><font size="2" face="Verdana">Run Allegro <strong>using alisp </strong>with
the default case insensitive setting within this directory and
then type</font></p>
<p align="center"><font color="#00FF00" size="2" face="Verdana"><strong>(LOAD
"install.lisp")</strong></font></p>
<p><font size="2" face="Verdana">to the Allegro prompt. The file </font><font
color="#00FF00" size="2" face="Verdana">Qi-Windows-Allegro</font><font
size="2" face="Verdana"> is a batch file; clicking on it will
create a command window with </font><font size="3"><em>Qi</em></font><font
size="2" face="Verdana"> running under Allegro. Note you have to
have licence permission to run the file Qi 8.0.dxl from Franz and
your license permission should be in the current folder. Note as
of 21st May 2007, we are having problems with building an Allegro
image. According to Franz this is due to a problem with Allegro which
they aim to fix with 8.1. If you have problems with this then use the next method.</font></p>
<p><font size="2" face="Verdana"><strong>Running Qi by Loading a
FASL File</strong></font></p>
<p><font size="2" face="Verdana">Note you still have to have your
license permission in the current folder. </font></p>
<p><font size="2" face="Verdana">(A) Run Allegro <strong>using
alisp </strong>within this folder and then type</font></p>
<p align="center"><font color="#00FF00" size="2" face="Verdana"><strong>(LOAD
"install.lisp")</strong></font></p>
<p align="left"><font size="2" face="Verdana">(B) Once you've
done that then you need not repeat this process. Whenever you
need </font><font size="3"><em>Qi</em></font><font size="2"
face="Verdana"> under alisp enter </font></p>
<p align="center"><font color="#00FF00" size="2" face="Verdana"><strong>(LOAD
"run_fasl_allegro.txt") </strong></font></p>
<p align="left"><font size="2" face="Verdana">which will load the
FASL file into your image and send you to the </font><font
size="3"><em>Qi</em></font><font size="2" face="Verdana"> top
level.</font></p>
