Hi, I’m Maria Roszyk 👋

I’m a product engineer, artist and community builder.

I build human-centred products around family life, learning and memory. Before moving into software, I worked across contemporary art, AR/VR and community building.

I’m currently building a private, parent-controlled AI agent that helps families turn what they know about their children into relevant books, projects and learning experiences.

What I’m building

AI learning agent for families

A private AI agent that remembers a child’s interests, strengths and previous responses, then helps parents discover relevant audiobooks, books, projects and experiences.

The goal is not to optimise or evaluate children. It is to help parents notice what matters, act on it and build on what genuinely engages their child.

Baby Steps

A mobile journal for parents to record children’s memories, milestones and development.

I designed and built the product independently, from product concept and UX through implementation and mobile release.

Keeper: Regain My Love

A subscription-based relationship app with guided audio programmes, weekly check-ins, monthly dialogue tools and support for difficult moments.

I designed and built the product independently. It started acquiring paying subscribers organically, without paid marketing.

Previous work

Before becoming a software engineer, I founded a children’s scouting community from scratch and helped grow it to around 120 children.

My earlier work includes:

  • interactive and augmented reality storytelling;
  • immersive projects using photogrammetry and VR;
  • internationally exhibited contemporary art;
  • community-led projects for children and families.

My work has been shown in New York, Kyoto, Berlin, Leipzig and across Poland.

I was also:

  • a Category Winner and HTC Vive Prize Winner at the Creating Reality Hackathon at USC;
  • a recipient of the Kyoto Art Innovation Award;
  • a laureate of the GESSEL Foundation competition for the best master’s thesis for Zachęta — National Gallery of Art.

How I work

I usually work across the full product process:

  • identifying a real human problem;
  • shaping the product and user experience;
  • designing the interface;
  • building the frontend and product logic;
  • testing with users;
  • shipping and iterating.

My current stack includes TypeScript, React, React Native, Expo, Node.js, PostgreSQL and AI-assisted development tools.

I care more about building a useful, coherent product than about using a particular framework.

Background

  • Software Engineering Immersive — Codeworks
  • Code Societies — School for Poetic Computation, New York
  • MA in History of Art — Adam Mickiewicz University
  • BA in Printmaking / Graphic Arts — University of Art in Poznań

A little more about me

I am originally from Poznań and currently based in the UK.

I’m also a mother of four, which means many of the problems I work on are problems I know from daily life rather than market reports.

I like building things that begin with a small human observation and gradually become a product, a system or a community.
