On July 4th, 1776, the United States was initialized with an initial commit. The initial commit declared that "all men are created equal," but that line was commented out and didn't make it into the Constitution. ./alien_worker.sh implements unit tests for this inconsistency. The pull request with the fix is open and waiting for reviews from code owners.

Listening

git clone https://alienworker.sh
cd alienworker.sh
./alien_worker.sh

The script finds Bazel on your machine, or bootstraps the pinned version through the vendored tools/bazelisk.py. You need:

  • macOS — the Xcode Command Line Tools (xcode-select --install). If git works, you already have them.
  • Linuxgit, python3, and a C/C++ toolchain (Debian/Ubuntu: sudo apt install git python3 build-essential m4 libpulse0).
  • Windows — WSL2 (WSLg provides the audio), then follow the Linux steps.

The first run downloads Bazel and the album's dependencies and compiles the player, so it takes a few minutes. After that, playback starts immediately.
