Summary

  • The core concept (W-2 salary + LLC profit taxed together on one return, salary fills lower brackets, write-offs save at the top bracket) was never explained anywhere on the site
  • Users couldn't understand the connection between their day job and their LLC write-off discount

Changes

  • Landing hero sub-text: now explains the bracket relationship
  • Landing receipt note: shows how the $50K salary determines the 22% bracket
  • New explainer section: "Why Your Day Job Increases Your Write-Offs" between hero and calculator grid
  • Calculator hub: rewritten to explain combined taxation
  • Rates section (all 3 calculators): added note "Your W-2 income sets these rates"

Test plan

  • Visit / — verify new hero sub-text and receipt note
  • Scroll to new explainer section between hero and calculators
  • Visit /calculators — verify updated explanation text
  • Visit any calculator — verify "Your Rates" section has the new note
  • Check mobile layout for all changes

The core concept — that W-2 salary and LLC profit are taxed together,
so the salary pushes LLC income into a higher bracket — was never
stated anywhere on the site. Users couldn't understand why their
day job affected their LLC write-off discount.

- Landing hero: explain the W-2/bracket connection in sub-text
- Landing receipt: note shows how salary determines the bracket
- New explainer section: "Why Your Day Job Increases Your Write-Offs"
- Calculator hub: rewrite to explain combined taxation
- Rates section: add note that W-2 income sets these rates
