Description
The FPS counter displayed by XR-Telemetry appears to be inaccurate.
Environment
- XR-Telemetry configuration: default settings
- Fixed application framerate: 72 FPS
- Comparison tools:
- Virtual Desktop Performance Overlay
- OpenXR Toolkit (also tested in one case)
Observed behavior
With the application running at a fixed target of 72 FPS under stable conditions, both Virtual Desktop's metrics overlay (and, in one test, OpenXR Toolkit) consistently report a stable 72 FPS.
However, the FPS counter in XR-Telemetry fluctuates continuously, typically showing values in the 64–76 FPS range instead of remaining close to 72 FPS.
The fluctuations occur even though the rendering conditions should produce a stable framerate.
Expected behavior
The FPS counter should report values that closely match the actual application framerate, remaining stable around 72 FPS under these conditions.
Additional observations
It looks as if the FPS display is not synchronized with the frame counting interval. My impression is that the frame count and its periodic reset may not be aligned, resulting in inaccurate instantaneous FPS values.
The issue was observed using the default XR-Telemetry configuration.
What actually happened?
It looks as if the FPS display is not synchronized with the frame counting interval. My impression is that the frame count and its periodic reset may not be aligned, resulting in inaccurate instantaneous FPS values.
The issue was observed using the default XR-Telemetry configuration.
Steps to reproduce
1 installed via setup
2 runned the game
3 press the hotkey and read the framerate
Active settings file (content)
The settings are the default one
