Related to #585

Revising recipes according to new material tiers.

Splitting Brass Processing (already in locale files) off from Zinc Processing.

Adds Aluminium Pipe to tier 3 pipes.

Merging the two tungsten techs is also planned, but that will be done after all other modifications are made. Same with removing Ceramic Bearing and Pipe.

Updates complete. Removing the old materials (Ceramic pipe, bearing) and tech (tungsten alloy) should be all that remains to do.

  • Nickel plate is used for Roboport antenna array 2, 3, & 4. What should these be using?

Should not be using iron gear wheel:

  • Artillery turret
  • Assembling machine 2
  • Cargo wagon
  • Centrifuge
  • Chemical plant
  • Combat shotgun
  • Electronics assembling machine 1
  • Flamethrower
  • Flamethrower turret
  • Fluid wagon
  • Oil refinery
  • Radar 3
  • Rocket launcher
  • Spidertron Cannon

Should not be using steel gear wheel:

  • Assembling machine 3
  • Cargo wagon MK2
  • Chemical plant 2
  • Fluid wagon MK2
  • Locomotive MK2
  • Oil refinery 2
  • Rifle
  • Roboport hatch door 2
  • Sniper rifle

Should not be using cobalt steel gear wheel:

  • Assembling machine 4
  • Electronics assembling machine 2

Should not be using brass gear wheel:

  • Assembling machine 5

Using wrong pipe:

  • Electrolyser
  • Pump
  • Storage tank all corners
  • Fluid wagon
  • Oil refinery
  • Flamethrower turret
  • Pump 2
  • Storage tank 2 all corners
  • Storage tank 1 - 4 (not using any pipes. Should use 2)

Other:

  • Armoured fluid wagon
  • Beacon 3

  • Antennas 3 and 4 already both used Nickel,... but given its purpose in antenna construction, I guess you'd replace it with Brass and Nitinol respectively.
  • Steel Gears for Artillery and Artillery Wagon
  • Personally, I find the current tiering on Assembling Machines to be all messed up. Of course, the fact that there are six of them is a problem. But the solution, as I see it, is to treat Assembling Machines slightly differently from others, as they are your most common bread-and-butter machines. Starting with having AM2 be distinguished primarily by its ability to use fluid recipes.
    • AM2: Remove Gear entirely, replace with Pipes or Bronze Pipes, and replace Steel Plate with Bronze Plate - Steel is very expensive in the early game. Green Circuit. Automation Sci.
    • AM3: Steel Plate, Gear, and Bearing. Red Circuit. A machine you unlock at the beginning of the Red Circuit tier. Logistic Sci.
    • AM4: Blue Circuit. Have it remain the same. It uses Red Circuit-tier materials so you unlock it at the beginning of the Blue Circuit tier. Chemcial Sci.
    • AM5: Blue Circuit. Unlocked at the end of the Blue Circuit Tier. Replace the current Titanium Plate with Invar Plate, so it requires Titanium, Zinc, and Nickel. Processing Sci.
    • AM6: Utility Sci.
  • Electronics Machine 1 is fine as-is, or it could use Steel Gears I guess. It's another weird in-between machine. Electronics Machine 2 should use Red Circuits and be at the Chemical Sci tier. EM3 and AM6 should never have been locked behind Space Science, in my opinion.
  • I guess switching Wagons 1 to Steel Gears and Wagons/Locomotives 2 to Cobalt Steel Gears makes sense.
  • Centrifuge could certainly use Steel Gears.
  • Chemical Plant 1 can use Steel Gears and Bronze Pipes. Chemical Plant 2 can switch to Cobalt Steel Gears/Bearings and Aluminium Pipes.
  • Oil Refinery and Oil Refinery 2 can make the same changes as above. Though, Oil Refinery 1 could also use Steel Pipes instead of Bronze - you need far fewer of them, so making them more expensive is fine.
  • Flamethrower Turret should use all-Steel. Bronze melts at too low of a temperature.
  • Handheld weapons... eh, do whatever ig?
  • Spidertron Cannon, Steel Gears would do fine, or Titanium or even Nitinol Gears/Plates, given that Tankotrons need Tungsten Carbide anyway.
  • Radar 3, that's supposed to be Cobalt Steel Gears. Had a typo there.
  • Roboport Door 2 could switch to Cobalt Steel Gears/Bearings.
  • Gloves/Heads/Boots/Frames can remain as they are. Steel is a perfectly sensible material for this purpose.

  • Steel Gears for Artillery and Artillery Wagon

Artillery is T3 so should use Cobalt Steel.

I don't see any problem with Assembling machines / Electronics assembling machines. What you are suggesting sounds similar to how they were previously. I disliked having two unlock at the same tech tier. I like having some post-rocket-launch content (like T5 modules!).

  • Centrifuge could certainly use Steel Gears.

Centrifuge is T3 so should use Cobalt Steel.

I'll be busy for the next few days, so I don't think I'll have time to weigh in on the remaining changes. Whatever you pick, I'll be fine with. I'll just note that Plastic Pipes are looking rather scant in their uses. It's an odd material, one that I would classify as "cheap", but I suppose it could be used for Storage Tanks, maybe Chemical Plants.
