Summary

  • On Wayland, WebKitGTK's alpha-compositing path is unreliable with transparent: true, and the whole main window (not just its background) can render invisible — matching Fedora Support #14's "the app is transparent, people can see nothing".
  • Window transparency here is purely cosmetic: ui/src/style.css makes html/body transparent so only the #app panel (opaque --bg + rounded corners) shows as a floating panel — so disabling it on Linux only loses the rounded corners, no functional change.
  • Adds swift-shifter/tauri.linux.conf.json, a Tauri v2 platform-specific config override that's auto-merged only for Linux builds, setting transparent: false for the main window. The full window block is repeated because Tauri's config merge uses JSON Merge Patch semantics (array values replace wholesale, not per-field).

Fixes #14

Test plan

  • Verify on Fedora/Wayland that the app window now renders visibly instead of blank
  • Verify macOS/Windows builds are unaffected (their configs are untouched)
  • cargo build passes

WebKitGTK's alpha-compositing path is unreliable on Wayland; with the
main window's transparent:true config, the entire window (not just its
background) can render invisible. The transparency is purely cosmetic
(#app paints its own opaque background for rounded corners), so a
Linux-only platform config override disables it with no functional loss.
