HTTP proxy support for KMS requests in CSFLE and Queryable Encryption

In-use encryption can now route KMS requests through an HTTP proxy. Set kmsConnectCallback on your ClientEncryption or auto-encryption options to control how the driver connects to a KMS host. The callback receives the target host and port and returns a connected socket (for example, a tunnel opened with HTTP CONNECT); the driver then performs the KMS TLS handshake over that socket using the provider's configured TLS options. This unblocks CSFLE and Queryable Encryption in environments that require an HTTP forward proxy for outbound KMS traffic, which the existing SOCKS5 proxyOptions does not cover.

Improved Intelligent Workload Management

Improved performance for MongoDB 9.0's Intelligent Workload Management (IWM) by only retrying overload errors when doing so is expected to not worsen server conditions

Bundling the driver into ESM no longer throws ReferenceError: require is not defined

v7.2.0 introduced the experimental runtimeAdapters option and, as part of it, replaced the driver’s static import of Node’s os module with a runtime require('os'). That works in a CommonJS build, but when the driver is bundled into ESM output (e.g. a Vite/esbuild/rollup server build with "type": "module"), there is no require in module scope, so constructing a client threw ReferenceError: require is not defined. The driver now loads the default os adapter through a dynamic import() that survives bundling, so new MongoClient() works in ESM bundles. CommonJS usage is unchanged, and supplying your own runtimeAdapters.os continues to work.

Bulk writes serialize each document only once

insertMany and bulkWrite previously processed each document twice - once to measure its size for batch splitting (a full recursive walk via calculateObjectSize) and again to serialize it into the command sent to the server. Documents are now serialized a single time and the resulting bytes are reused for both, decreasing the BSON-encoding CPU spent on bulk writes and reducing event-loop blocking during large batches. The improvement is most noticeable with high document counts and documents that have many fields.

Stricter XML validation

SVGO now uses sax 1.6.1, upgraded from 1.5.0 (#2257).

The new parser version validates numeric character references against the ranges permitted by XML. Invalid references are now rejected in both text and attributes, including:

• disallowed control characters such as &[#1](https://github.com/svg/svgo/issues/1);, , and ;
• UTF-16 surrogate code points such as �;
• invalid XML code points such as .

Valid boundary values—including U+0020, U+D7FF, U+E000, U+FFFD, and characters through U+10FFFF—remain supported.

Parser failures are consistently exposed as SvgoParserError errors with an Invalid character entity reason.

This is an intentional behavior change: malformed SVGs that were previously accepted may now produce a parser error, while valid XML documents are unaffected.

Security

The removeScripts plugin has been hardened against several script-execution bypasses:

• Filters executable data: URLs containing HTML, XHTML, or SVG documents while preserving inert data such as PNG images, and filters legacy vbscript: URLs (#2263).
• Sanitizes content inside SVG <foreignObject> elements by removing HTML event-handler attributes, srcdoc, and executable URLs from action, data, formaction, href, and src, while preserving non-executable HTML and visual content (#2264).
• Recognizes namespace-prefixed SVG <a> elements and removes ASCII tabs and newlines before checking URL schemes, preventing values such as java&[#9](https://github.com/svg/svgo/issues/9);script: from bypassing detection while preserving elements in unrelated custom namespaces (#2268).

Dependencies

Mock functions can now configure return values per argument list, contributed by @​timkindberg (#16053):

Describe-level retries

jest.retryTimes() can now retry a whole describe block instead of a single test, contributed by @​soltonigiri (#16322). Each attempt reruns the block's beforeAll/afterAll hooks, child tests and nested describes, which helps when tests in a block depend on shared state:

New file watcher

The non-watchman path of jest-haste-map is rewritten. @parcel/watcher replaces the homegrown NodeWatcher and FSEventsWatcher (#16188), and fdir replaces the hand-rolled directory recursion in the crawler (#16187). A batch of fixes also makes watching and indexing survive locked files on Windows, watchman failures, and duplicate manual mocks (#16295, #16358, #16355, #16360).

If you can, please run your suite with --no-watchman (in and out of watch mode) to exercise the new crawler and watchers, and report anything odd 👍
