@FBruzzesi why exactly is this PR considered blocked? 🤔 EDIT: Ah sorry, because of pola-rs/polars#29247. |

Merge Risk: 🔵 Low · up to This PR only adds tests, so production behavior is unchanged. The invalid-input tests accept any exception, so they could miss a regression that fails for a different reason. This is a small follow-up item, not a merge blocker. Pre-merge checks |

- Around line 352-353: Update the invalid-input assertion around
maybe_collect(df.select(expr)) to require the backend-appropriate parsing
exception or a parsing-specific error message, so unrelated selection or
collection errors do not satisfy the test.
- Line 299: Update the Polars nanosecond case around assert_equal_data to add a
native Polars assertion that verifies the stored datetime retains all nine
fractional digits, including the sub-microsecond portion; do not rely on
Series.to_list() or the ns schema check alone.

Thanks @jonasdedden and sorry for the long wait of this one 🙌🏼

Description
Explicit
"%Y-%m-%d"parses to midnight (with aDatetimeschema assertion); an explicit offset format on an all-null column yields all nulls (values only, since time units and time zones differ by backend; ibis is skipped because it cannot construct an all-null column); trailing input with an explicit format raises on all backends, asserted with a genericExceptionplus aB017, PT011noqa and justification comment (each backend has its own error type, so the pinned contract is only "raises rather than prefix-parses").Now covered: fractional-second formats pin polars dtypes (millis and micros variants) with
xfailfor every other backend, and unparseable input (explicit or inferred format) is pinned to raising via genericException. Strict cross-backend error-type and time-unit assertions remain open. What type of PR is this? (check all applicable)
