brew install --HEAD brightnessas the Homebrew path to try when the tagged Homebrew release cannot get or set brightness on Apple Silicon or recent macOS releases.Context
Homebrew's stable formula currently installs the latest tagged release, while the repository's
masterbranch includes newer DisplayServices support for Apple Silicon. This comes up in issue #43, and I verified the difference on an Apple M4 Pro MacBook Pro running macOS 15.6.1.Validation
make clean && make./brightness -l./brightness -lreportsdisplay 0: brightness 0.500000on the M4 Pro machine.
